Communications

There were no working radios on the RV during my time there. Sometimes a message would come into the Kenilworth office for us. Bob Clark would generally know about where we were during the course of the day and would call up one of the customers, asking “Can you give my crew a message?” For example, we’d be working Simpson Timber in Union and some guy would come out with a note saying that our office called. Sometimes we’d get up to Summit on the E-L and the tower operator, or the agent, would say “Your office gave me this message for you.” There was no way for us to check in with the office throughout the day. Occasionally, George Davis would be out on the line doing track work and he’d flag us down and have a message for us.
